The sidewalk sale has sucked for years - It is either crap that no one wants, garage sale quality goods at insanely high prices, or not really a sale.....Not worth the crowds or the waste of time!

I'm with Camry. I'm all for a good bargain, but the last few times I've braved the sidewalk sales, invariably there's someone (or several someones) out with the double wide or extra long off-road stroller, bashing their way through the already overcrowded sidewalks in the burning heat and their kids are miserable.
Hire a sitter for the day and leave the SUV strollers at home.

Amen to that! And they park the damned things sideways so as to take up optimal space. I'm no hater, either--I have 3 kids and I know how it is when they're young. But I can honestly say I went out of my way to avoid inconveniencing others because I chose to breed.
Roll and park that thing courteously or carry the kid, please. Better yet, listen to Dazie: do the kid and everybody else a favor and leave it home. It will be much more comfortable.

they should just donate what the have to charity..then they can take the loss..one day someone will be maimed or killed by one of those SUV strollers
wheres GODZILLA when u need him....?

I would pay extra to avoid the crowds. Same with bars that have drink specials, no thanks, being among the masses is no deal for me.

I'm bringing my stroller and I'm coming for you.

I don't go "downtown" (Lawrence's version of "Aggieville" for any reason, ever!

Sales taxes are nearly 10%. There are no bargains. Spend less, live better.

Is it just me, or does it seem EVERY year, more like every day, parking becomes worse, not just for sidewalk sales, but for everything else? I would avoid sidewalk sales if I can't find parking. Besides, the time limits on parking do not necessarily make for enjoyable shopping experiences.

The bus is free that day, and you don't have to worry about parking. Just park somewhere close to a bus stop going downtown.

Will street people be there uncontrolled again?
funkdog1 2 years, 10 months ago
No. This year they'll be penned up in the parking lot at 9th & Vermont. But don't worry; there are provisions being made to make sure that they have shade and plenty of water.

The comments here remind me of the Yogi Berra-ism "Nobody ever goes there, it's too crowded."

Absolutely! Nothing like getting great deals on more stuff that you don't really need.

Yes! Bright and early.
