the war is over
Doesn't mean you can still learn more about the history of the region or more about the civil war in Kansas.
I try to avoid events that involve period actors, especially Civil War period actors.
I'd prefer to ambush the LARPers. They're not even getting paid or performing for someone. just larping around the forest with tin-foil swords.
Charge!!!! No quarter asked; no quarter given............but could use a few bucks....lol
no; my time is already stretched pretty thin, so i believe i will just sleep in.
I'm disappointingly away from home during the event or I absolutely would attend. This was such a pivotal, defining moment in not just Kansas history, but American history. The true history is that the first shot of the civil war wasn't fired at Ft. Sumter; it was fired on a free-state homestead in eastern Kansas. The first shots fired to protect the liberties of ALL Americans was absolutely fired in Kansas at those who would enslave some people while dictating their will on everyone else.
If you are talking Black Jack, I don't think it was a homestead when the battle took place. Pearson(if that is the right name from memory) bought the homestead afterwards. But he did participate in the battle. Must have liked the country.
