Teacher101- The reason why we got half a Home depot, Best Buy & Wal_mart is because too many people in lawrence claim that having a big store will kill stores downtown.

As for the bigger stadiums. remember a lot of the money came from a bonds that were passed by the voters. The bonds were not too build specefically stadiums at each high school but Mr. Weaselman & the board wanted it, so they pushed it.

It is too bad that Weaselman's buddy (Tom B.) is telling the board they need more money for capital repairs and the board is buying what he is elling, they could have used the excess funds to either pay down the debt or use it to repair other buildings.

Down town is history, you're just putting off the pain. Get the bypass finished and it will all be better.

Actually quite a few homes around the stadium are not rentals, including ours. Neighbors had legitimate concerns about flooding, especially since that has always been a problem along 21st Street. There are also concerns about the lights and noise. And besides, don't renters have legitimate concerns about these issues too? The bonds never said anything about separate stadiums.

I'm not sure what the bypass has to do with the stadiums, but I say let's just build it. It's been way too long and it is needed.

where are the seats in the stadium? do you have to sit on those rocks, or will they eventually add seats? i did not go to the game but watched on TV.

Teacher 101, perhaps you should check youre source of information on what you state about it being all renters to complain! Someone is misleading you. There is no homeowner assoc. only a neighborhood of HOMEOWNERs that didnt want to be covered up with athletic fields a few feet from their property. After all if you own youre home, I believe the owner should have some rights too! Renters have no interest in contesting a problem where they are just living for a short time. And now dont start the argument that the neighborhood was just built either. Many of the homes in the area were built in the early 50s. In fact some in the area prior to the high school. who is spreading this information about it being only rentals in the neighborhood?
