Bowen has got to go. Those are the worst set of linebackers ever. slow, small and soft. the entire defense is slow.

manginosaurus needs to lose half his weight, then he can stay.

The question should be, "Should we fire Lew Perkins right now or have an investigation first?" I say, let's fire him right now and get the athletic dept. back on track.

Mangino is how tall? BMI (which works just fine for non-athletes) would have him under 185, most likely. If he's 6' and 450#, his BMI is 61, which puts him at more than twice the clinically obese number of 30. If KU keeps him, they'll be lucky if he doesn't keel over dead in a year or two.

killjoy is right! fire Perkins right now. he is a snake in the grass and needs to be out of all college athletics!

Chris Ogle 5 years ago

Keep the 'fat man' and fire Perkins

kujayhawk 5 years ago

I think he should get one more year.

Richard Heckler 5 years ago

Mr. Perkins sloppy management skills = termination.

If Mangino is an athletic nightmare aka too tough didn't increasing Mangino wages to 3 million say Mangino style is acceptable?

The problem seems to be at the top.

WITHOUT QUESTION, LEW IS THE ONE THAT SHOULD GO.

puddleglum 5 years ago

Lew is responsible for such a b.s. mess at the end of the season. Lew needs to go...like right now. before we ein another basketball championship. I really can't endure seeing that jerk walk around the allen fieldhouse floor smoking a cigar. WAY too arrogant

smmoore 5 years ago

we should let the Coach finish his time . Just because a few lille incidents dosen't make it alright ...nor does it help in looking right directing for all this . When he was up and on the top of his game every thing was ok but you got to look at what this man has brought to us and what we may lose if he has to go. Yes we all don't see throw the same eyes . Let try and get back to a more middle of the road . It's has ben titled alittle to one side . Give a man a chane to do his thing .chance

Hey Lew thanks for making KU the talk of College football for all the wrong reasons. None of this should have been public, your kind of like a T.O. on a football team, worthless. If you want to talk about costing us games, you did two years ago at a POSSIBLE shot a national championship game, but hey you thought it was best that we play in KC instead of Lawrence. Stop this nonsense Lew the University of Kansas is LOCATED in LAWRENCE,KS. Screw the money we are about our team Lew, our HOUSE IS MEMORIAL STADIUM..

toe and justsmile2day,

Dead on! With Lew it's about the money only! He's taken away good seats in FB and BB from lifelong fans and given them to those with $ who rarely sit there and give the tickets to friends.

This year's 5-7 record and overall Big XII record is not very good, but the guy is loyal to KU!

Lew's timing on the "investigation" is the only thing in question. Poking a kid and/or cussing in college is common. Not that I condone it, but you're not going to get away from it in a D-I program and most likely not even a Juco. Heck just ask some high school parents even and that's sad.

i guess you are all right. I mean we didn't have five star facilities to draw five star recruits or win a nat'l champ, or an orange bowl before lew perkins. Really, what has he done for us lately? I guess the improvements made to allen fieldhouse and a very generous donation to the university mean nothing to us fans. jeez, i'm a little unhappy about the smear campaign, but we have something other schools don't have. we have lots of other sports to cheer for. we aren't limited to just one sport. there are lots of jayhawk athletes we should be cheering for and games we should be attending. if we don't want to be just a basketball school we should be showing up for everybody, not just the men's bb and football team. bunch of hypocrites...

I find it very difficult to be scared or intimidated by a very fat man. Especially if I was a Division 1 athlete.

If a linebacker is being abused by a poke in the chest, then I think he is in the wrong sport.

Life is a lot tougher than Mangino ever will be. Unless there is something else to this story, I think he should be allowed to serve out his contract and see what happens.

twinetowngirl 5 years ago

Seriously people...enough with the fat jokes. What are you in like 3rd grade?

Mangino is a great coach, has nothing to do with his weight.

beawolf 5 years ago

I think there is lot more than just a poke in chest. Verbal abuse can be just as demeaning (even more so) than physical abuse. That said, "It's not over till the fat man sings".

leedavid 5 years ago

Coach did not fumble the football, he did not throw inteceptions, he did not get intentional grounding calls, he did not crackback block. When he took over as offensive coordinator, we started looking like an offense again. I honestly don't know what to do with this mess. At a minimum there are some coaches that need to go on defense for sure and the offensive coordinator as well. As far as Coach Mangino, I hate the weight. He has a mutlimillion dollar workout facility, proper eating experts on his staff, I can't explain his lack of discipline.

PLKaws23 5 years ago

Coach has to go. It would be different if he only 'poked' players in the chest at practice or yelled at them. However, Is hard to respect a coach that tries to grab players, on or off the field, and that brings their personal life onto the field.

shepdog 5 years ago

Of course he has to go but not for the alleged abuse it would have to be for his win-loss record. Lew knew his record of misconduct because every smart boss knows all that has to be documented. We all know now that it has been going on since he got here. Some we have heard about but probably some we haven't. Coach has some issues as we all do but apparently they waited to do something about it when it was convient for the A.D. I'm thinking he's getting most of that contract money but heh, it's just money!!!

Stuart Evans 5 years ago

heck yes he should. I don't know anything about football, but the press coverage is great.

deskboy04 5 years ago

We love Coach Mangino. He is a great coach.

"Life is a lot tougher than Mangino ever will be."

Sorry, no. I am not and will not be subjected to physical or emotional abuse or public humiliation as a normal part of adult life. I have legal and physical recourse. Bullying should not be tolerated by anyone at any stage of life, but especially not from those who purport to be leaders.

TUNA HELPER NEEDS TO GAIN ABOUT 100 POUNDS. KEEP MANGINO.

Uhlrick_Hetfield_III 5 years ago

The biggest problem is that Perkins has publicly discredited his own coach. How is recruiting going to go when Perkins has publicly announced an investigation? I thought personnel matters were private, but there's that weasel Perkins pulling the big man's pants down for the whole world to see, guilty, or not. Thanks Perkins, you jerk, for guaranteeing KU a couple more years of bad football.

oldvet 5 years ago

Life is tough... it's even tougher if you're stupid!

Some punk with no discipline in his prior life, with no playing time earned on the team, doesn't like the coach, doesn't like discipline, and whines to the AD. This kid will grow up and continue to be the whiner/looser that he is today. It's a hard-knocks life...
