I'm hoping the students will listen to Coach Mangino. I truly hate it when the students do things that embarrass KU and all the other fans. I agree, this chant needs to stop. I've always been proud of the student KU fans. This is certainly nothing to be proud of.

By all means don't change the chant...after all, it is socreative and makes us sound so intelligent. I can't imagine any well educated person coming up with anything better. Why should KU be expected to behave like a class-act school just because they try to purvey themselves as one?

No, it is not something you hear at Mizzou of KSU. Their fans have enough class and common sense not to look like ignorant morons on national tv and have chants like this.

Bigbear...this is about inclusionism, not excluding children. Children have a right to be at that game and not be exposed to people making absolute a##es of themselves. All anyone is asking is for people to be civil and respectful. That's not too much to ask. I'm all for spirit and I know there is going to be a certain amount of cursing, but for you to assume that a college football game is fair domain only for drunk college kids doesn't show much "common sence" . Grow up!

Of course they should show more class. This is supposed to be KU, not Mizzou. If you want to act like that, go to Columbia and become an antler.

Agreed, the chant is classless and offensive. Of course, implies we mean bodily harm to come to an opponent, which is never, ever classy! Show some class, students!

I am offended by the kick off chant. The public adddress announcer provides a warning to fans using abusive language. After 3 games, it may be time for enforcement.

Do the small children who we are offending come to the football games on their own, or are they brought by their parents? if you dont want your kids to be around drunk college kids yelling curse words, I suggest you take them anywhere but a college football game.common sence is not so common

Calvin is exactly right. Nobody is more of a KU fan than I am but when it comes to sportsmanship.... we fall way behind other Big XII schools. For example, after we snapped the losing streak against Nebraska, our fans felt the need to parade before the Husker section flying the bird and screaming obscenities. This came after I witnessed a majority of the Husker fans that stayed to show KU respect. Our fans would have left in the third quarter if you flipped the scenario. Our student section is less creative than most high schools in the area.

Their fans have enough class and common sense not to look like ignorant morons on national tv and have chants like this."Yeah, that's why those classy and sensible MU fans booed the KU band while they played the National Anthem at Arrowhead last year and the infamous Antlers held up signs about Roy William's deceased mother at Columbia during BB games (all during nationally televised games). We also don't want to overlook the classy verbal/physical harrassment and crap thrown at the KU band at Ferrot Field in Columbia. The Missouri Highway Patrol even refused to escort the KU team buses from the state line to Arrowhead last year. As a result they had to fight through the traffic and arrived at least 30 minutes late. I can only wonder why an institution like the Orange Bowl Committee would not want someone like Missouri representing their brand name. Likewise for KSU fans repeatedly sneaking crimson and blue painted chickens into the field house at Manhattan and hollering obscenities and making gestures at my wife and daughter before, during and after the KU win at Bill Snyder "Family" Stadium last year. Any time you want to believe the entire fan base of any local college (including KU) is above reproach and has the market on "classy" cornered, just go read the comments posted on a KC Star college sports article. Repugnant just doesn't quite cover it.

The chant is disgusting. Fans are told at the beginning of the game that they can be evicted if they use profanity. Let someone start yelling the "N" word and see how long they are allowed to remain at the game. Kick 'em out if they can't show a little class.

i dont think its necessarly an appropriet thing to be chanting but seriously its not that big of a deal...if someone was standing next to me yellin that i wouldnt be trippin its football! it aint gotta be classy and if they dont like the way people act then go sit in the boxes away from us "unclassy" people

Bad-Dog:KU fans are supposed to be better than MU fans. That is why we should show some class and stop this chant. It makes us look no better than the MU fans.Is that really true about the Missouri Hypos? If so, KU should not renew the border war at Arrowhead or play any games at the Sprint Center.

We're talking about college kids here. "Class" is the wrong thing to discuss. It's "maturity". Or lack of it. Most of us at the age of 20 would have yelled right along with them. And most of us who are now older with kids, would prefer that these types of things didn't happen at our university. Mangino and KU are doing the right thing by trying to stop this chant. It just may prove difficult to stop.

labmonkey, I couldn't agree more about the need to stop the chant. Some may see it as harmless fun, but I don't think it reflects well on the students or the university.And yes, the Missouri HP story is true. Not only did they refuse to escort the bus, as I understand it they wouldn't let the Kansas HP escort them past the state line either.During the game we were surrounded by numerous drunk MU fans including one gal in her early twenties who spent most of the game standing with her back to the game yelling crap at KU fans. The stupidest part of it was that she was there with two older folks I believe were her parents. At least they were minding their own business.We did have some decent MU fans close by that engaged in some good natured banter and a couple that said "Good game" to us afterward. While I was in a restroom after the game some MU fans were even talking smack about how Arizona was going to roll the KU BB team the next day (didn't happen). They didn't say it to me per se, but I was the only KU fan there. While I have no doubt it was directed at me, they were just yammering on their way out as they left (without washing their hands...)

ok im soo tired of hearing about mu fans! i am a mu fan and i wash my hands, i dont throw stuff on other fans/players/court, i had nothing to do with them not escourting the players...yall are talkin bout the whole fan base like we all are idiots and rude screw that just because i was born 50 miles to the east dont mean im trash...besides that stuff all happened wat 7 months ago!! get over it! and o im sure that a ku fan has NEVER done anything like that ha ya right yall are just as bad! this poll is bout ku fans and the chant not lets name every unsportaman like thing a mu fan has ever done..yall jus need to quit hatin...
