I am told that daily applications of alcohol inside and out will cool you off really well.In the external application, the alcohol evaporates quickly and cools you down right fast and the internal applicatioin improves your view of the wrold.

I drive around in my Hummer and make cell phone calls. It has this super-duper AC system, It's like rolling around in a walk-in cooler.

I hate that the public pool doesn't open until 1pm on the weekends! I know they have classes in the morning, but do they really need to have them at the outdoor pool? Can't they have them at the indoor pool or only during the week? I am sure it would increase attendance, especially for those that have kids that still nap after lunch and therefore don't go to the pool in the afternoon. I know this will probably never change, but I still needed to rant about this since Lawrence also doesn't have many community pools as alternatives…

Multi,Just get the bucket-o'-margaritas, add the 750 ml of tequlia, then pour it in the Tupperware® Ice Tups® forms, and stick them in the deep freeze. Just the thing for walking the pomeranian.

Keeping the AC off until around 10 PM excites me. Saving energy, less polluting and saving dollars make the warm day slip by like a breeze. Grapes and strawberries go well in warm weather and sometimes I mix aloe vera juice with some fruit juice and bingo a thirst quencher. After all cools off a bit I will sip a brew.

MD~ I am so with you on the margarita bomb pop! If you don't have a tupperware popsicle mold (they're too small, anyway), just pour your marg into a big plastic cup (44-oz Quik Trip should do), stick a butter knife in it (let it freeze at a jaunty angle, or use masking tape to hold it upright in the center), and do the Happy Anticipation Dance around the kitchen until it's ready!! merrill~ aloe vera juice feels good on sunburned skin but, as anyone who's ever accidentally tasted it can attest, it tastes like crap. Mix tequila or vodka with your fruit juice. Much better. Glad sweltering in the heat until 10 pm “excites” you. It enrages me. Anything over 80 makes me feel like going postal and reduces my productivity to less than zero. But have fun with that.

Sweeper!Where you been dude?Haven't seen you much this season.Kinda of like inmate, here then gone for a while, then back. You two hangin' this summer?;)–-Pomeranians…it figures that the man who is so funny, walks a dog that is also funny.Pomeranian=Permaclown They don't pant, they say, happyhappyhappyhappyhappy.–—I did buy a bottle of margaritas today after a couple year absence. Why do those things go down so smoothly?–-Don't forget to buy some candy bars to put in the freezer! This is an old treat that I forget about (since I don't buy cbars regularly) but it was a great at the pool treat.Did your pool used to pack shaved ice into two cups, then smash them top to top to make an ice tower, and sell them?Holiday Park did until the kids got too misbehaved with the ice.

d_prowess, I've been writing letters to the LPRD for years. When I was growing up our pool opened at 9 a.m. and closed at 9 p.m. Little kids could swim in the mornings before it got unbearably hot, then go home for naps. Sunbathers got the best of the midday sun, and latch-key kids had something better to do than smoke cigarettes in the park or watch TV. When the Lawrence pool opens at 1 p.m., everyone is at the gate waiting, there's a deluge of people running in for chairs and the pool is immediately swamped. It's awful. I've been told that most of the problem is a lack of funds to pay enough lifeguards the salary required to attract a sufficient number of applicants. This baffles me. Back in the day kids clamored for that job despite the fact that the city paid minimum wage — about $3 an hour. What's the matter with kids these days???!!!?? (Rhetorical and somewhat facetious.)
