Oh please. Panhandlers? This is what we want to be annoyed over? How about all those loud obnoxious kids that party down at Brothers and accost me everytime I walk by from South Park? Yeah, I'd like to vote for some type of an obnoxious and aggressive bargoers act.

How much more does anyone want their taxes increased for more police officers? I've not had any problem after saying no and keep walking.

The musicians are fine for they are working to get that buck. One person was offering bad advice for a donation....very clever. I have no doubt if a person is getting seriously aggressive the LPD is not that far away for downtown is high priority.

When visiting the Plaza not so long ago panhandlers were about as I'm sure there is activity in Westport.

We want the police to deal with speeding traffic,The Last Call, accidents and unusual characters running about our neighborhoods. The LPD BTW are more familiar with Lawrence street people than you might guess.

Panhandlers are everywhere, but especially around 10th and Mass. I wonder why. Could it be that this is the closest busy street corner to the LCS so they don't have to walk as far? No, that would be too easy of an answer don't you think? Look at this poll! And we want to "preserve" our downtown by not building another Walmart? Whatever folks; people don't come downtown because they don't want to be panhandled and getting yelled at if they don't give them a buck. People with little children are just scared. The police wants to clean up the mess we have, but our leaders at city hall don't want to do a thing because politically the subject is too loaded!

While not a resident, I'm in Lawrence a few times a month and I've never even noticed a panhandler. There are always going to be a few panhandlers in every city, even in Johson County. Get over it, or move to an isolated part of the state. The police have more important things to do.

It's simple don't give them any handouts and they will leave. I don't feel sorry for most of these people. They need to find jobs and stop bothering me for my hard earned money.
