Ava Hertach, a first-grader at St. John school, writes a story during a weekly writing workshop at St. John Catholic School geared toward first-grade aspiring writers. The students write the stories, have them edited and then after having them typed on a computer and printed, they do their own illustrations.
Laminated "About the Author" posters of first-graders hang above their latest writing work in the hallway at St. John Catholic School.
