Goatley was convicted in Cowley County on at least three sexual offense against children charges between 1993 nd 2001. He was in and out of prison between 1995 and 2004, and died in prison in January 2004, according to state records.

Fry was issued a subpoena in the civil lawsuit against an Illinois sex offender who had ties to Fry in the 1980s. Fry, once released from a Kansas prison, was arrested on federal child pornography charges in 2010. He is awaiting sentencing in that case.
