Samantha Scott, Topeka, foreground right, joins other opponents of the Keystone XL Pipeline project in a rally at the Expocentre in Topeka, Monday, Sept 26. Proponents and opponents turned out to voice their opinions regarding the proposed pipeline project. The U.S. State Department is holding public hearings in eight cities from Montana to Texas on TransCanada's proposed 1,700-mile, $7 billion pipeline project. Part of the massive pipeline already runs through the middle of Kansas but hasn't been built in other states.
