Dr. Kelli Henderson, of Growing Smiles, is encouraging kids to enjoy their Halloween candy for a few days and then bring the rest to a candy buyback party Nov. 3 at her practice, 1425 Wakarusa Drive.

Last year, Growing Smiles collected 500 pounds of candy during its first buyback party. The candy was shipped overseas to troops. The Lawrence dental practice hopes to top that amount this year.

A crowd of women enjoy "Ladies Night Out with Bill Self" in Allen Fieldhouse, Thursday evening, Oct. 27, 2011. Women got the opportunity to run drills and receive one-on-one training from the KU coaching Staff. The second annual event was a fundraiser for Jayhawks for a Cure, which supports cancer treatment and research at the KU Cancer Center and Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
