The Welcome Club of Lawrence presented fundraiser checks to Willow Domestic Violence Center and the Lawrence Humane Society. The club’s fundraising efforts were headed by Trudy Urbanski, not pictured. From left are Amy Bradshaw, assistant director for Willow; Dory Rogers, club president; and Dori Villalon, director of the Humane Society. The check presentation was July 20 at Alvamar Country Club.
Special to the Journal-World From left are Charles Jarrett, Western Star Lodge secretary; Nancy DeGarmo, New York School principal; and Kevin Johnson, Western Star Lodge worshipful master. Jarrett and Johnson delivered school supplies collected Aug. 20 from attendees at the annual lodge’s community picnic.
On Aug. 13, Troop 61 attended a districtwide Splash-a-ree campout. The boys learned how to sail, canoed, went fishing and swimming at Clinton Lake. Other troops attending from Douglas County were Troops 52, 60 and 59.
