Technician for the Vladimir Horowitz piano, 80-year-old Franz Mohr, tunes the piano before a July 18 recital in Baustian Hall at Kansas University. Mohr, who worked for Steinway and Sons out of New York, tours with the piano and gave a lecture July 19 about his experiences being head technician.
Luke Rhodes, a Kansas University freshman from Lawrence, played “Listz Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6” in a recital July 18 on a Vladimir Horowitz piano, which was on loan to the International Institute for Young Musicians for 48 hours. It was on display in Baustian Hall at KU.
