Keel spoke to 35 members on NGSL on Feb. 22 at the Lawrence Country Club on the history of German immigrant groups in Kansas and their impact on Kansas’ agriculture, education and culture. The program was presented through the auspices of the Kansas Humanities Council. KU professor in the department of religious studies Michael Zogry, not pictured, also discussed the relationships between James Naismith’s religious commitment and his invention of basketball at the event.
Health Care Access Clinic received a check Feb. 10 from Sunflower Bank, which provided health care for a patient for an entire year plus two clinic visits from their health care debit card program. From left are Sally Zogry, HCAC development director; Nikki King, HCAC executive director; Karen McGrath, Sunflower Bank branch manager; and Lana Davis, Sunflower Bank customer service representative/lender. The check presentation was in the amount of $380. The clinic needs $360 to provide health care for a year.
