Firefighters respond Friday to a call at Gaslight Tavern in North Lawrence. The fire, which started just before 6 p.m., was confined to a small utility room in the rear of the building. The structure was unoccupied at the time of the incident and no one was injured. There were no damage estimates Friday, and the cause of the fire was unknown.

The Lawrence police honor guard lay a wreath at the grave of Officer Wilson Pringle, who was killed in the line of duty in 1909. Three fallen police officers and a firefighter were honored Friday, May 6, 2011, with a wreath-laying ceremony at each one's gravesite. The event was in observance of Kansas Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day.
