While tethered to a trailer, Socks, a 13-year-old mule, decided to try to reach the leaves on a nearby tree for a little snack Saturday at the 4-H Horse Show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. He was waiting for his owner, Cody Newell of Baldwin City, to come back.
