Emily Mangus, a doctoral student at Kansas University, feeds microscopic cells that she is using for an experiment. Mangus earned a three-year, $90,000 award from the National Science Foundation to research liver regeneration.
Will Pendelton, 20, used the skills he learned as a mechanical engineering student at Kansas State to help him convert this 1949 Allis Chalmers "G" tractor from gas to electric, and thus, gave the machine a second lease on life.
