The Westerners held a Founder’s Day on Sept. 11 at the Smith Center of Brandon Woods. From left, are Albert Sellen, Jane Sellen, David Dary and Sue Dary. Albert introduced David to the dinner meeting. David and Sue were two of the original eight founders of the local Kaw Valley Corral. David is author of “Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas; An Informal History.”
Drs. Eric Huerter (Reed Medical Group) and Pam Huerter (Lawrence Family Medicine and Obstetrics) participated in the Douglas County Medical Alliance fashion show, a benefit for Van Go Mobile Arts and Health Care Access, which took place Sept. 8 at Van Go, 715 N.J., with Julie Dunlap as emcee.

Joe Flannery, third from left, was honored in April with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for the 2011 Non-Rotarian of the Year. Flannery is congratulated by committee chairmen Stan Roth (retired Kansas University professor), Glee Smith (retired Kansas legislator), Nancy Longhurst (then Rotary president), and Ted Haggart (Douglas County Bank president).
