Cans for the Community set out to recycle 5,000 pounds in April in honor of Earth Day so they could then donate $3,000 to local nonprofits. Their goal was missed by 600 pounds, but they were able to donate $3,000. Allen Press employees brought cans to work in addition to the cans recycled in their plant. From left, Tonya Foster (Allen Press) and Will Lunn (Cans for the Community volunteer) load up bags of cans brought in by Allen Press employees. The challenge was for each employee to recycle 1 pound of cans by Earth Day, and they succeeded.
New York School was presented a $1,000 donation on April 14 from Cans for the Community. Back row, from left, are Will Lunn (Cans for the Community), Nancy DeGarmo, New York School principal, and Linda Klinker, Cans for the Community.
