A Lawrence man was taken by Life Star helicopter to a Kansas City area hospital Saturday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Volunteers at Overlook Park on Saturday kept a collection of unusual items found during the spruce up, including a truckload of trash and recyclables, a deer skull, heron bones, Christmas tree ornaments, and golf balls. Park Ranger Kipp Walters said the roughly 50 volunteers collected between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds of trash from the park.
