A Lawrence man was taken by Life Star helicopter to a Kansas City area hospital Saturday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Crosses along the side of Kansas Highway 4, pictured in April 2011, memorialize members of the Spencer family. Dylan Spencer, 35, and his wife, Amy, 34, along with their two daughters, Chase, 7, and Ansley, 5, died when their small plane crashed north of Topeka. The family was from Scott City.

Kyle Hull, 2, puts a pair of rubber flip flops with other unique items found during the 28th annual Clinton Lake Cleanup. Volunteers at Overlook Park on Saturday kept a collection of unusual items found during the spruce up, including a truckload of trash and recyclables, a deer skull, heron bones, Christmas tree ornaments, and golf balls. Park Ranger Kipp Walters said the roughly 50 volunteers collected between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds of trash from the park.
