Man arrested at KU Visitor Center on suspicion of trespassing

University of Kansas police arrested a man at the KU Visitor Center, 1502 Iowa St., on suspicion of trespassing Thursday, according to jail records.

Ian A. Slater, 27, of Phoenix, was booked into the jail about 11 a.m. and later released on bond with an order to appear next month in Lawrence Municipal Court, according to jail records.

Slater is not listed in the KU directory. On Wednesday, Slater had been banned from campus as a result of disruptive and threatening behavior around the Department of Admissions and a threatening voicemail left with the Office of the Chancellor, according to Joe Monaco, a KU spokesman.

During the incident Thursday, Slater held up a gun-sized case and made reference to it as though it contained a weapon, Monaco said; however, he did not have a gun.
