A crash investigation team with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office examines the site of a fatal crash just east of the intersection of 31st and Louisiana streets Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

One person is dead after a head-on crash near the intersection of 31st and Louisiana streets on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s office spokesman George Diepenbrock said in an email that the crash occurred just before 1 p.m. Wednesday just east of the intersection. Two vehicles were involved, Diepenbrock said, and one person was killed; three other people were taken to area hospitals, one by helicopter.

Diepenbrock said 31st Street between Louisiana Street and Haskell Avenue would be closed for several hours while investigators were on the scene.
