— Payless ShoeSource is putting its corporate headquarters in Topeka, Kansas, up for sale.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports the company is seeking $8.5 million for the headquarters, amid rumors that Payless might leave Topeka.

Payless emerged from bankruptcy in August. In early November, company spokeswoman Meghan Spreer said the company was evaluating its structure.

In mid-November, 170 employees were laid off. That came after another 165 employees were laid off in January, and information technology jobs were outsourced.

Spreer confirmed Monday the company is seeking to sell its headquarters.

There is nothing wrong with the Topeka and Lawrence workforce. They are the ones that followed the brilliant plan of the Pozez cousins to build a single Topeka store into a $3 billion 5,000 store international chain. The Topeka and Lawrence workforce is just as good as ever. The issue is the east and west coast carpetbagger management team that stopped following the Pozez business model and started lining their pockets with the hard-earned money of the Topeka and Lawrence workforce. The dollar stores are following the Pozez business model and they are one of the fastest growing most profitable sectors of the economy. Non-Topeka/Lawrence Payless management foolishly abandoned the Pozez customer and failed the hard-working employees of Payless ShoeSource, and the cities of Topeka and Lawrence. Sad.

They are in the process of putting more and more and more out of work THEN outsourcing the company completely.

This must create quite a windfall for those at the top.

Local hard working people made Payless successful now too many of the USA working class is getting stabbed in the back.

Why purchase anymore Payless items?
