The Lawrence Police Department is seeking public assistance in locating two suspects in the triple shooting that occurred three weeks ago near Kansas University’s campus

Arrest warrants have been issued for the suspects, Rachael Ann Hampton, 20, and Robert Alan Long, 24. They are believed to be armed and are considered dangerous, police said.

Working with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Hampton and Long on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

The charges stem from the Feb. 8 shooting of three men in a home just south of the Kansas University campus.

Anyone with information on Hampton or Long’s whereabouts is asked to call the Lawrence Police Department at 832-7509 or Douglas County CrimeStoppers at 843-8477.

Calls made to CrimeStoppers can be made anonymously and callers providing information that leads to an arrest may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

A 22-year-old Grain Valley, Mo., man was charged Wednesday in connection with the shooting.

Caleb K. Chrisman is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and three counts of aggravated kidnapping after allegedly holding Phillip Hawley, Seth Peterson and Arthur Perez at gunpoint in an attempt to rob them of cash in a home at 1621 W. 19th Terrace, court documents state.

The three victims, two of whom are KU students, suffered gunshot wounds during the commission of the crime, according to Lawrence police spokesman Sgt. Trent McKinley. None of the charges filed against Chrisman implies he shot the men. The three have since been released from area hospitals.

Hampton was reported missing Feb. 7, when she was believed to be driving a silver, 2005 Pontiac G6, according to the website Kansas Missing & Unsolved. That vehicle matches the description of one witness accounts and dispatch calls suggest was linked to the shooting a day later.

On Saturday afternoon, Hampton’s parents, John Hampton and Kathryn Myers, issued the following statement to the Journal-World:

“Our daughter, Rachael, has been missing since Feb. 8. She has not contacted us, family or friends. To our knowledge, there has been no credible evidence as to where she may be, if she is OK or if she left willingly. We have no facts to share. Our only concern is with our daughter’s safe return. We have a message for Rachael that we want shared:

“‘Rachael, we dearly love you, and our hearts ache. We need to know you are all right. We are here for you. We do not care about anything but your well being. Please call us, Rachael.’

“If anyone has information about Rachael, please contact authorities. We have no further comment and we request that our family’s privacy be respected.”
