Eudora man to stand trial on multiple charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child

A 43-year-old Eudora man will stand trial in August on multiple charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child after District Judge Paula Martin bound him over for trial during a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Douglas County District Court.

Martin refused a request by the man’s attorney to lower his bond from $50,000 to $25,000, saying that $50,000 was already too low because of the number of counts and alleged victims. The man has been in jail since March. Eudora police arrested him after an investigation revealed allegations that he engaged in “lewd fondling or touching” of three children on separate dates in 2012.

An official with the Kansas Department of Children and Families testified, in multiple interviews, that a girl said he touched her and two friends on separate occasions during sleepovers when he thought they were sleeping.

If convicted, the man faces sentences of between 25 years to life imprisonment for each of the counts.
