43-year-old Eudora man charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child; three alleged victims

A Eudora man, 43, was charged Thursday with multiple counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child for incidents involving three alleged victims in 2012.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested the man Wednesday afternoon on a warrant at his home in Eudora. He made his first appearance in Douglas County District Court via a remote video feed Thursday from Douglas County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.

The man is charged with three felony counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child for offenses alleged to have occurred between Jan. 1, 2012, and Nov. 21, 2012, and involving three alleged victims.

In the state’s complaint against the man, he is accused of engaging in “lewd fondling or touching” of three children, each aged 9 or 10 at the time of the alleged incidents.

According to the state department of corrections, the man also has a prior conviction in 2010 in Morris County for aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim. In court Thursday, Assistant District Attorney Mark Simpson said the man also had a conviction for contempt of court in Haskell County in 2001.

If convicted, the man faces sentences of between 25 years to life imprisonment for each of the counts.
