Lawrence woman arrested after reported stabbing early Tuesday morning

Lawrence police arrested a 22-year-old Lawrence woman on suspicion of aggravated battery after she allegedly stabbed a man, and herself, during a domestic dispute early Tuesday morning.

Stephanie Rose Kwasniak was booked into the Douglas County Jail just after 6 a.m. She was arrested after being treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where the victim was also treated and later released, according to Kim Murphree, a Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman.

Murphree said Lawrence police responded to a possible stabbing at 1:13 a.m. at an apartment in the 1400 block of Coventry Manor. They found a man with a cut on his back and a woman with a cut on her leg. The man’s name has not been released.

Murphree said officers determined that the woman inflicted both wounds and that an argument led to the altercation.
