A man has been charged in connection with the fentanyl death of a 21-year-old Lawrence woman.
Miles Robert Clasen, 25, of Lawrence, is facing one count of distribution of a controlled substance causing death in the case of Olivia Mae Hassell, who died on July 7, 2025. According to Lawrence police, Hassell was unresponsive when officers arrived, and several doses of Narcan failed to revive her. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The department’s Drug Investigations Unit and detectives traced the origin of the drugs to Clasen, police said.
The charge was filed on Oct. 21. A warrant was issued for Clasen’s arrest on Oct. 23, and he was taken into custody on Monday.
He also has several other pending drug charges in Douglas County, according to court records, including a fentanyl possession case from the day of his arrest. Clasen was out on bond in another Douglas County drug case at the time of his arrest.
He also was on probation in a Leavenworth County case in which he had been convicted in a plea deal of narcotic possession and paraphernalia possession. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
