Lawrence police identify victim in Saturday morning hit-and-run

Lawrence police have identified the woman injured in a Saturday morning hit-and-run accident as 35-year-old Lawrence resident Margie Wilson.

Sgt. David Hogue, a Lawrence police spokesman, said Wilson was sleeping in her vehicle at the parking lot of the Lawrence Community Building, 115 W. 11th St., when another vehicle struck hers around 3:50 a.m. Saturday.

“It’s my understanding that she’s living in her vehicle,” Hogue said of the victim.

Investigators are still looking for a suspect vehicle, which Hogue said is thought to be an older Honda Passport with “extensive front-end damage.” The vehicle could be silver or a light blue, Hogue said.

“The victim thought it was a dark color, but based on some of the transfer paint that we had, we thought it could be a lighter vehicle,” he said.

Wilson was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she has since been treated and released, according to a hospital representative.
