Police seeking suspect in reported stabbing Saturday outside bar

Lawrence police are looking for an unidentified man who allegedly cut or stabbed two 22-year-old men early Saturday morning outside a Lawrence bar.

Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman, said two victims — William Gadberry, 22, of Eudora, and James Roh, 22, of Coppel, Texas – were taken to a Kansas City-area trauma center with injuries that were not life-threatening but required immediate attention after an altercation near The Hawk, 1340 Ohio St., after the bar closed.

The stabbing was first reported by Operation 100 News.

McKinley said Gadberry and Roh were leaving The Hawk about 2 a.m. when they saw the suspect being removed by security. Gadberry and Roh made comments to the suspect as he was being escorted. The victims didn’t report seeing a knife but said they were cut or stabbed by a sharp object.

McKinley said a relative from Eudora picked up the two victims and took them back to a home in Eudora. Douglas County Fire-Medical personnel were called for assistance and the two were taken to a trauma center.

McKinley said the victims described the suspect as a white male, possibly 5-foot-10, of average build and about the same age as the victims.
