34-year-old Lawrence man charged in Sandbar Sub Shop burglary
Douglas County prosecutors are charging a 34-year-old Lawrence man with aggravated burglary and felony theft in connection to a Wednesday night burglary of the Sandbar Sub Shop, 745 New Hampshire St.
Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police department spokesperson, said police responded to an alarm at the restaurant late Wednesday night and reportedly found Matthew Charles Reynard inside an office. Reynard allegedly had a backpack containing various electronics with an accumulative value of $1,300 dollars, as well as checks from the business and other items, McKinley said.
Police believe Reynard entered the business two hours before it closed. The clerk who closed the store did not notice him before leaving around 10 p.m., McKinley said.
Reynard is in jail with bond set at $5,000.
