Lawrence man recovering at hospital after being hit by car Saturday night

Emergency crews respond to a pedestrian-vehicle accident near the intersection of North Second and Lincoln Streets in North Lawrence.

A 37-year-old Lawrence man is in “satisfactory” condition at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka after being injured in a pedestrian-vehicle accident Saturday night in North Lawrence, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday.

Fernando Foster was taken to the hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries about 9 p.m. Saturday after he was hit by a car near the intersection of North Second and Lincoln streets, Lawrence Police Sgt. Randy Roberts said Saturday.

A silver four-door Buick driven by Kansas University student Taylor Stephens, 21, struck Foster while Foster was walking west across North Second Street between Lincoln and Lyon streets, police said.

Kim Murphree, a Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman, said police are investigating the incident.
