Crews respond to a fire at the intersection of Locust and North Fourth streets Thursday afternoon in North Lawrence. Enlarge video
A fire damaged a boat, a trailer and at least one home in the 300 block of North Fourth Street about noon Thursday.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical crews responded and the flames were extinguished by 12:30 p.m. The fire badly damaged a boat and a small shed in the rear of one home, and caused minor damage to a nearby house. Two other houses were marked by radiant heat but otherwise appeared undamaged, said Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Chief Mark Bradford.
No injuries were reported, Bradford said, and it did not appear anyone would be displaced by the fire.

Can I get an amen and a prayer for Gadwell? Thank you.
Losing a boat and shed is no small matter. They are going to need that boat, I hope they have a way to replace it.

I am curious. In the video it looks like the water the firefighters are spraying is "foamy". Anyone know if they use a fire retardant or is that just plain water foaming because of the hose or nozzle.

Adjuvant, surfactant, emulsifier. Whatever. Makes the water 'wetter'.
