McLouth man, 18, arrested on suspicion of sex crimes involving juvenile

An 18-year-old McLouth man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of using social media to contact a juvenile for sexual purposes. Police said the suspect used Facebook to contact his victim.

The man was arrested at his home by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and McLouth police, who seized computers and cell phones while serving search warrants on three homes in the McLouth area, said Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig. Two other suspects in the case are juveniles, Herrig said, and the victim is under the age of 16. The sheriff’s office has not identified any of the juveniles involved in the case while the investigation continues.

The man arrested Saturday was booked into Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child and sex acts with with a child. He remained in jail Monday pending an appearance in Jefferson County District Court.
