Longtime local musician to celebrate 95th birthday with performance
Longtime Lawrence musician Clyde Bysom is turning 95 and will be playing clarinet and saxophone at his own birthday party.
The party is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at New Life In Christ Church, 619 Vt., where Bysom will be playing with the Gaslite Gang. The jazz concert and dessert are free.
Paul Gray also will sign and give away free copies of his new book, “The Fish Net Experience.”
A novel based on Gray’s experiences in 50 years as a musician and band leader in Lawrence, the book chronicles the musical and spiritual adventures of jazz musician Ronnie Self, whose lows and highs of his career carry him from a self-centered lifestyle to a life of grace.
