The Social Service League of Lawrence is planning its annual Friends of the League Party from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at Free State Glass, 307 E. Ninth St.

Admission is $5, which includes a pint glass with beer (or water or tea), live music, snacks and a silent auction. Monzie Leo, Drakkar Sauna and Pale Hearts are expected to perform.

Pictures of silent auction items can be viewed at facebook.com/socialserviceleague.

This year’s event kicks off the group’s “Keep it in Lawrence Campaign” and will mark the unveiling of the League’s new online Thrift Boutique, expected to include more than 600 items ranging from books to designer clothing.

We hope everyone will come and bring their relatives, friends, neighbors and casual acquaintances with them. This party isn't just for the present Friends of the League; it's for everyone. We've got some terrific silent auction items, and we'll also have some "featured" Buy it Now" items as this is our Grand Opening for our on-line non-profit Thrift Boutique. You can see some of the great items we have by going to our Facebook page (Just click on the link in the article above; then click on photos; then click on albums). We have a silent auction album AND we have some wonderful albums of the work by local artists who have generously contributed to our store.

The Social Service League - In existence since 1863; a brick and mortar thrift store since 1911; entering cyberspace in 2012

Hope to see you there! Meg Davis SSL Board of Directors
