A 25-year-old Lawrence woman charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of her 5-year-old child in April waived her preliminary hearing Thursday in Douglas County District Court.

Rebecca Lynn Wynne is charged with reckless involuntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated child endangerment. Wynne’s child died after ingesting opiates found in Wynne’s home in the 1500 block of Delaware Street, according to prosecutors.

The two child endangerment charges involve Wynne’s two other children, ages 6 and 4, who were in the home at the time. The children are now in protective custody.

Wynne is scheduled for arraignment — where she’ll be asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty or no contest in the case — at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 1.
