Police searching for vehicle after woman reports seeing driver holding gun

Lawrence police Wednesday were looking for a vehicle after a woman jogging in west Lawrence said she observed the driver extend his arm out of the window while holding what appeared to be a black semi-automatic style handgun, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a police spokesman.

McKinley said the 44-year-old woman was jogging in the 1600 block of Inverness Drive about 11:30 a.m. He said that the alleged weapon was not pointed directly at her and that no threats were made as the vehicle passed.

But police were still trying to locate the vehicle and suspect, who was described as a white male in his 20s. The vehicle was similar to a gold 1990s model Ford Taurus.
