Osage County law enforcement officials are investigating a site near Carbondale where human remains have been discovered.

Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said the department responded to a call at 7:50 p.m. Saturday when someone said they had found decomposing human remains at 118th Court. Since then, the department has secured the area and brought in additional assistance, including First Call of Kansas.

“We are still searching to see if we can find any more remains,” Dunn said Sunday afternoon. She expected the search to continue Monday.

Dunn would not release details about what had been found, although a Topeka television station is reporting a skull was found.
