A woman was taken to a Kansas City, Kan., hospital Monday morning after falling from a horse southeast of Lawrence, said Sgt. Steve Lewis, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman.
Lewis said the woman was thrown from the horse. She was taken to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., by ground ambulance.
The accident occurred about 9:45 a.m. near the 1500 block of North 1175 Road.
Medics on the scene had asked for a helicopter ambulance, but Lewis said air ambulance services advised they were not flying Monday morning due to the weather.
