Lawrence police arrested a 21-year-old Lawrence man on two counts of forgery and one count of stolen property at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dillons grocery store at 1015 W. 23rd St.

According to Lawrence police Sgt. Randy Roberts, the Dillons store had recorded a possible forgery earlier in the day when the same man wrote a check on a closed checking account. When a store employee received a check from the same checking account later in the day, police were called.

Officers arrived and arrested the man, who was cited for stolen property for possessing a stolen checkbook.
