Concert pianist who graduated from KU performing at Sunflower Music Festival

Kansas University graduate and concert pianist David Allen Wehr will again be part of the headline acts at the Sunflower Music Festival, which kicked off Friday at White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus in Topeka.

The festival will feature 10 free concerts over nine days, each beginning at 7:30 p.m. through Saturday.

On Friday, Wehr played Bach’s Piano Concerto Number One with the Festival Chamber Orchestra. On Tuesday and Friday, Wehr will play chamber music with other musicians from around the world. The Dvorak Piano Quintet will conclude the concert Friday.

Wehr has played in more than 30 countries and has completed 13 seasons of touring the United States and Canada for community concerts, both as a recitalist and as a pianist with the Sartory Trio. Wehr’s website is davidallenwehr.com.
