Lawrence police are continuing to investigate a report made Tuesday afternoon of an alleged sexual assault in North Lawrence.

Police received a call about 1:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Maple Street, and Sgt. Trent McKinley, a police spokesman, said a property owner contacted authorities after he had made contact with a 50-year-old Lawrence woman there who reported she was assaulted.

“She advised several known subjects were present during the alleged assault, which occurred sometime after midnight (Tuesday),” McKinley said.

The woman was taken a short time later to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment. McKinley said Wednesday morning that police have made contact with several witnesses and potential suspects.

“Additional interviews are anticipated, which detectives are assisting with,” he said.

*“She advised several known subjects were present during the alleged assault, which occurred sometime after midnight (Tuesday),* Is it just me or doesn't this seem a little odd?
