Visiting Nurses is seeking volunteers to help as Hospice Patient Companions and Hospice Massage Therapists. Companions will work directly with patients and their families by providing companionship, respite care, and/or relief for primary caregiver. No prior medical knowledge is required; training will be provided. Massage therapists must have previous training and experience in massage therapy, must be comfortable working around patients’ physical restrictions and have an understanding of contraindications. • Kansas Tick-Borne Disease Advocates Inc. is still looking for several volunteers who can work 2- to 4-hour shifts at its 5K Race and 1-Mile Walk on June 16. There are various jobs available, including setup, vendor assistance, race marshaling, registration and more. • CLO’s Midnight Farm is looking for help in its day camps this summer. One-week camps run from June 25 through Aug. 3, and include campers 6 years and up, of all abilities, who will need aid in the riding lessons and in other horse and farm activities. Volunteers will act as sidewalkers during the riding lessons, and assist with other tasks as needed. Volunteers must be 14 years old and attend a training before starting. • Ballard Community Services is seeking volunteers to help with a one-day project at the Penn House, 1035 Pa., on Saturday, June 16. Volunteers will assist with light maintenance, cleaning, painting, yard work and other efforts to help spruce up the Penn House food and clothing pantries. Assistance is requested between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., but those able to assist for any portion of that time are welcome. Volunteers are welcome to bring cleaning supplies and tools, but that is not required. Light refreshments will be provided.
