A 33-year-old Lawrence man was ordered on Thursday to stand trial on two additional aggravated battery charges, in addition to the three separate charges he initially faced in connection with a Dec. 7 domestic incident involving a knife.
The man, Willie James Richardson, originally was charged with aggravated battery, making a criminal threat and domestic battery, a spokeswoman for the Douglas County district attorney said.
Richardson was charged after his 33-year-old girlfriend alleged he hit her and threatened her with a knife.
The victim’s testimony at a preliminary hearing gave rise to the two additional charges, the spokeswoman said.
An arraignment hearing in the case is set for 9 a.m. Jan. 20.
