Kansas football adds two area walk-ons

The Kansas University football program added a couple of walk-ons from the Kansas City area on Thursday.

JayhawkSlant.com confirmed that both Adam Novak, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound running back from Bishop Miege High, and Michael Golubski, 6-0, 220 from Bishop Ward High, had committed to KU and would join the team as walk-ons this summer.

Novak drew interest from several community colleges and lower-division schools. Miege offensive coordinator Jon Holmes told JayhawkSlant.com that the KU coaching staff was looking at Novak as an H-Back because of his solid size and 4.5-second 40-yard dash speed. Novak also played defense for the Stags and led the Eastern Kansas League in sacks during 2011.

Golubski is another versatile athlete who played quarterback, fullback, tight end, linebacker and punter during his prep career and could wind up at a couple of different positions at KU.

Because Novak and Golubski will join the Jayhawks as walk-ons, neither player will count toward KU’s numbers for the Class of 2012.
