A 39-year-old Lansing man was sentenced Monday to serve 15 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of producing child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s Office.

U.S. District Judge Carlos Murguia handed down the sentence to Douglas M. Schuler after he had pleaded guilty earlier this year and admitted the investigation began in 2010 when a high school girl reported to a school counselor that Schuler was making unwanted sexual advances toward her. Investigators searched Schuler’s laptop computer and found pornographic images of the girl, who was a minor, according to Grissom’s office. Lawrence police and the FBI conducted the investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Martin prosecuted the case.
