A 34-year-old Lawrence woman was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a motorcycle accident Wednesday morning just east of Midland Junction.
Lorraine Hilleary failed to negotiate a curve while traveling north on U.S. Highway 24 at about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Lewis on Wednesday.
Her boyfriend drove her to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after the accident, Lewis said. Law enforcement officers were notified of the accident at about 4 a.m., and Hilleary was later taken to a Kansas City area hospital.

Sorry for the lack of understanding on my part, but, does failing to negotiate a curve mean she lost control on the curve? Maybe some gravel on the turn and she slid and lost control?
Thanks in advance!

It is not uncommon for some inexperienced cycle riders to get fixated on an object. Your bike follows your head so if you're not looking through the turn you will go straight towards what you are looking at... which would be off the road.
My guess is that failing to negotiate the turn means she ran off the curve into the ditch.
