Two people injured in motorcycle accident Monday night in Franklin County

A Pleasant Hill, Mo., man was flown to a Kansas City area hospital Monday night after his motorcycle struck a deer in eastern Franklin County.

Sheriff’s officials Tuesday identified Russell Pine, 57, as the driver of the motorcycle injured in the 8:45 p.m. accident on Kansas Highway 68 near the Miami County line. Deputy Jerrod Fredricks, a Franklin County Sheriff’s spokesman, said Pine was flown to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., in a helicopter ambulance, where he was listed in serious condition as of Tuesday night. His passenger Marcia Pine, 50, also of Pleasant Hill, was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital by ground ambulance. Just after the crash in the eastbound lane, a car struck the motorcycle, but no one was injured as a result of that crash, Fredricks said.

A condition update on Marcia Pine was not immediately available Tuesday.
