Nationally recognized activist and educator Tony Porter is set to deliver this year’s Jana Mackey lecture, “Real Men, Real Talk.”
The talk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday at Woodruff Auditorium in the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd.
Porter is the co-founder of A Call to Men, an organization dedicated to ending violence against women.
He has worked with a number of organizations, including the National Football League and the National Basketball Association.
Porter is the author of “Well Meaning Men ... Breaking Out of the Man Box — Ending Violence Against Women,” and was a guest speaker on the status of women at the United Nations.
The lecture series remembers Jana Mackey, a former Kansas University law student and women’s rights advocate who was killed by her former boyfriend in 2008. The event is free.
